DO NOT steal the 'Item - Diamond' from Deacon during "Acquiring a Pass - 1A: A Small Favour"
How to Acquire this Quest:After speaking to Romel during 'Trouble with Thommel' if the player has the Diamond from 'A Small Favour' then he/she can head straight on to meeting Thommel. If the player does not have the Diamond and Romel dislikes the player, then he/she is forced to do this quest to earn his trust. If he player is liked by Romel, then Romel will still offer the quest, but it is not required to progress. If the player completes 'Trouble with Thommel' without finishing this quest, then it is automatically cancelled and Romel will say that he already has men who will get the job done.
Description:After receiving the quest, Romel will say that he already had men willing to do the job but since you want to impress Thommel/earn Romel's trust then you can do it yourself. Deacon was on a mission for Thommel but he ended up stealing a Diamond and refusing to hand it over even though he was well compensated for the mission. Thommel has since fired him and ordered Romel to get the Diamond back. Deacon is normally found at random times throughout the day at the pathetic shack that he calls a house.
As soon as the player comes near Deacon's house, Deacon will rush out and say that he's in a hurry. He will suddenly recognize you and beg you not to hurt him. You can let him go and tell Romel that you couldn't find him, in which case he will say you must try again. If this happens then you can randomly find Deacon outside or inside his house. If you intimidate him, he will eventually give it to you and say that he's sorry. If you beat him up, he will hand it over and flee. If you offer to buy it from him, he will first say it's worth 25g but after you negotiate, threaten and bargain with him, you can get it down to 3g.
After you receive the Diamond, Romel will say that Thommel was right and you are useful after all. He lets you keep the Diamond and offers to take you to Thommel.
